The look of the practice.

Reference identity for anyone working with the practice — internally, in a partner engagement, or in the small number of external contexts where the brand shows up on paper.

Mark

The mark is a chevron veil — a wide inverted apex that gestures at both a raised curtain and a pointer downward toward the thing being watched. It is drawn as a single unbroken stroke; that is the rule.

The mark works at any size from a 16 px favicon to a business-card monogram. It should never be filled, outlined twice, or given a drop shadow. If it is legible against the background, it is done.

Wordmark

Veil Consulting
Full lockup

The wordmark is set in Cormorant Garamond at 500 weight, letter-spaced +2 units. It appears with the mark at 32 px height, spaced by twelve pixels.

In compact contexts — favicon, business-card back, letterhead corner — the mark stands alone. The word "Veil" is never used as a monogram; the mark is the monogram.

Social & favicon

Avatar / favicon

The avatar for platforms that render a square (favicon, LinkedIn, iMessage business, calendar invites) is the mark centered on the ink background. Gold stroke at #B5883A. No wordmark.

The social share image (Open Graph) is the hero photograph — currently a low-key hallway with a gloved hand on a hotel-suite door handle — scrimmed dark to hold text overlay if needed. The image never carries a tagline.

Usage rules

Do

  • Preserve the deep-ink base. Everything else is accent.
  • Keep the mark as a single unbroken stroke, at safe margin.
  • Set display text in Cormorant Garamond with true italics for emphasis.
  • Use gold for meaning (eyebrows, links, accents). Never for large fields.
  • Use red for action or warning. Never for standard body text.
  • Leave whitespace. This is a quiet brand.

Don't

  • Never use black. The ink is warm, not pure black.
  • Never invert the mark into an outline or filled shape.
  • Never pair with sans-serif display type. It flattens the register.
  • Never place the mark inside a boxed lockup with rules around it.
  • Never publish a client name or testimonial in this identity.
  • Never add a tagline under the wordmark. The tagline is a link, not a claim.
